APCO Thrust

This is the new paraglider designed for Paramotoring from APCO, certified Afnor/CEN Standard both for freeflight and paramotor use.

THRUST – APCO’s purpose built, specialized wing for paramotor flying. It was launched for 2004/2005 season and already enjoys huge popularity thanks to a unique combination of parameters making it probably the best wing around for paramotoring as well for free flying. Fully certified by AFNOR/CEN to Standard class and approved for paramotoring and free flying.

Thrust's design is focused on:
  • Launch - spotless - no matter wind or no wind, cross or tail
  • Ground Handling – THRUST positions itself over head with no effort and just hovers there even in the slightest wind with no sign of collapse, waiting for the pilot to be ready to accelerate into the air
  • In the air the wing acceleration is smooth, and THRUST willingly responds to the engine’s thrust
  • Handling - direct, precise and effortless
  • Flying - awesome
  • Safety – impeccable
  • Landing – piece of cake!
  • Riser – with accelerator and trim (for paramotor version), featuring 2 different levels of hook-in points enabling the THRUST to be fitted to any frame and capable of huge safe, speed range thanks to APCO’s exclusive HIT valves (well over 50km/h)
  • Speed valves (APCO’s exclusive HIT valves) are standard, as well as APCO original double coated siliconised cloth and heavy SuperAramid lines, backed up by our 3 Year/250 hour warranty
Out of gas – THRUST is well suited to free flying too and can be supplied with paragliding risers on request.

THRUST - Roar of the Engine - Whisper of the Wing

The factory worked closely with a team of professional paramotor pilots to achieve the qualities they appreciate in powered paragliding, like “spotless launch”, easy ground handling even in very light wind, smooth acceleration under power and easy landings.

The design of the Thrust incorporates APCO’s HIT valves on the leading edge

“to make accelerated flight smooth and safe”; diagonal rib structure; double coated siliconised cloth; elliptical planform; “heavy duty” Technora lines, and split A riser.

The Thrust can be ordered with standard paragliding risers or universal paramotor risers, with accelerator and trimmers, featuring 2 different levels of hook-in points that enable the Thrust to be fitted to any frame. It is available in 3 sizes (M-XL) covering a weight range of 85 to 180 kg, total weight including the motor, and a very large choice of colour schemes.

CONSTRUCTION AND MATERIALS

Materials
The glider is made from tear resistant Rip stop Nylon cloth, which is P.U. coated to zero porosity and then siliconized to give the fabric high resistance to the elements. Different cloth is used for the top, bottom and ribs due to their different functions. The lines are made of superaramid covered with a polyester sheath for protection against UV, wear and abrasion. The bottom section of the brake lines is made of polyester because of its better mechanical properties. The karabiners that attach the lines to the risers are made of stainless steel.
